Eastern chipmunk
The eastern chipmunk (Tamias striatus) is a small, ground-dwelling mammal found in the eastern and central parts of North America. It is characterized by its reddish-brown fur with five dark stripes running down its back. Eastern chipmunks are known for their excellent burrowing skills and create elaborate underground tunnels for nesting, storing food, and escaping predators. They primarily eat nuts, seeds, fruits, and insects. These chipmunks are solitary animals and are active during the day. They are also known for their distinctive chirping and chattering sounds.
